Born and raised in inner-city Akron, OH, Perry understands the city and the ways of the street. Perry also understands the hardship that men face when reentering the community, after being incarcerated himself. He learned that surrendering his old lifestyle and building a relationship with God was the answer.
2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!" Perry knew in his heart that he was the one that needed to reach out and help others do the same.
In 1999 Perry founded Truly Reaching You, Inc. (TRY). He trained and employed men returning to the community through his private business, Common Investor Home Remodeling. In the process, Perry became their role model for healthy relationships.
Perry opened TRY's first transitional home in 2006, housing men in a healthy support system directly after prison. Today there are 7 houses, housing 28 men in a holistic program. Married with five children and fourteen grandchildren, Perry has the heart, experience and resources to help others surrender their old lifestyles and reunite with their families and communities.

Prior to joining TRY, Steve spent 17 years in manufacturing and consulting as an Operations Manager and Senior Business Analyst, and possessed a proven track record of achieving business objectives through process improvement and developing strong teamwork models. This skillset helped improve bottom line performance and support professional development of employees during tenures at Andersen Consulting (Accenture), General Electric Lighting and OMNOVA Solutions.
Steve’s leadership skills and 20 years of outreach/ministry work provided him with the credentials to plan and develop partnerships for TRY with local churches and other community organizations. Steve has been instrumental in developing and formalizing TRY's relationship-based reentry process, financial systems, internal procedures, and staff/client evaluation process.
Steve is also an ordained associate pastor with a Masters Degree in Christian Ministry. He has been married to Cara for 32 years and has five children and two grandchildren!
